When I posted two days ago about the book I had only read between 1/3 and 1/2 of the book. Yesterday after getting at least 2/3 in I was prepared to write about this amazing love story. Today I finished the book completely.
[SPOILER ALERT]
So with as far as I had gotten yesterday I was thinking, Hazel will never get to live life out with Augustus. Hazel is going to die before she has a chance. When I stopped yesterday Hazel, her mom, and Augustus were on their airplane to Amsterdam.
Before I stopped I 'tabbed' two pages to remind myself of what I wanted to talk about to you. The first thing I marked was 125 pages into the book. I hadn't really thought of marking pages before that. Anyway, something John Green wrote that I absolutely loved was "...I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once." I loved this line because its so familiar. Regardless of who you are, you know the feeling of falling asleep. Its exactly as Hazel describes it and it can't be described any better. I feel like that is also an amazing way for someone to say how they fell in love.
My other 'tabbed' page was 137/138. It was more of the content of the two pages combined. Hazel complains about how eggs are just breakfast food. She talks about how you can have bacon on a sandwich but as soon as you put an egg on it, it's a "breakfast sandwich". I think it really shows her personality at this point. I feel like Hazel's personality is so relate-able.
I may continue this post for tomorrow because I actually just finished the book and wanted to get some of my thoughts out.
Prepare for more. :)
